While I was reading an article on Soblow Xaselgio’s website about a completely different topic (yes, I plan to get back to the comments project at some point) I happened to notice her page on the topic of the well-known/button schema.
After a few minutes of banging around and some other updates I am happy to say that this site is now compliant as well! :D
Yes, yet another never requested feature for this completely useful site.
As an exercise in learning some modern CSS I decided to rebuild this website template from scratch. I transitioned it away from the Poison theme to a brand new one I made by hand.
I’m still working on where I want to put some things. Putting my link buttons back, maybe on their own page, and deciding if I’m going to add more social media links. But I’m pretty pleased with how it looks here now.
I decided today to update my website, boy oh boy that was a saga.
First I had to remember where I kept these files, then remember how to compile and upload the site. There was some brief detours with troubleshooting (tip: hugo won’t compile pages in the future by default, check your date when posting).
I decided that since I’m playing with NixOS for my coding environments now anyway, it was time to move everything over there and maybe do it more correctly.
Recently there’s been a resurgence of ‘old web’ idealism in the cloud of folks I’m following. This is mostly evident in simpler static websites, but things like Webrings and button links are coming back as well. I decided to get in on the action by making my own (crappy) little link button for this site.
I made it pixel by pixel in Aseprite, which was a fun process. No outside fonts or anything, it’s all from my own silly brain.
