I remember a time when all web pages were walls of text, images were rare, and JavaScript was just something you used to scare each other.
It wasn’t necessarily a better time, but I felt like sites had more purpose, then came the Flash era, and now the “everything flashes” era. Most blog site templates are more concerned with your header images than making your content visible and readable. I feel like this is definitely not the optimal way to move forward.
While I was reading an article on Soblow Xaselgio’s website about a completely different topic (yes, I plan to get back to the comments project at some point) I happened to notice her page on the topic of the well-known/button schema.
After a few minutes of banging around and some other updates I am happy to say that this site is now compliant as well! :D
Yes, yet another never requested feature for this completely useful site.
Recently there’s been a resurgence of ‘old web’ idealism in the cloud of folks I’m following. This is mostly evident in simpler static websites, but things like Webrings and button links are coming back as well. I decided to get in on the action by making my own (crappy) little link button for this site.
I made it pixel by pixel in Aseprite, which was a fun process. No outside fonts or anything, it’s all from my own silly brain.
